Mini Outpost: Latela Art Gallery
We're bringing you all the good vibes today. This month we brought our candles over to the Latela Art Gallery in Brookland, and we're happy to share that Latela will be a mini outpost for some of our work! If you haven't heard of them, Latela's mission is to bring a genuine approach to the traditional art / gallery world. Their walls and shelves feature the work of artists who understand the vulnerable path of self exploration, and they have been voted best commercial art gallery in DC by the Washington City Paper's readers poll a few years running now. Yogi-centric positive vibes and a weekly meditation session are just a few reasons to stop by. The other reasons? The space is beautiful, the artwork is awe-inspiring and after one visit, you'll be inspired to dive into your old stash of paintbrushes yourself.
High ceilings, draped lights and all the prints your heart cannot contain. I'm currently redecorating my home to incorporate a few new prints by Marta Staudinger & Julie Bjarnhoff on the walls.
Latela is part of the Monroe Street Market Arts Walk, 20+ working artist studios in the heart of Brookland, DC, resting right above the Brookland metro stop. Find the studios of working photographers, painters, leatherworkers, soap makers, illustrators, sculptors, jewelers and everything in between. It's truly one of DC's hidden gems, and if you haven't been, hit up a Third Thursday where the studios are all open late night with live music on the Walk, and Saturday mornings for their weekly farmers market. The farmers market season opener is this Saturday! Details here.
