A Perfect Day for Self Love
Love is in the air. But it doesn't all have to be romantic. It can also be self love, self care, or also known as some good old fashioned me-time. Show yourself that you love yourself. I think it's the kindest thing you can do for your mind, body, and soul. If you're looking for a way to show yourself some love this Valentine's Day, here are some of my favorite ways:
Have a delicious breakfast.
I love starting the day off with a good coffee and croissant at a local coffee shop, or grabbing one to go and enjoying it at my leisure at home. I'll put on some good mellow tunes, light a favorite candle, and pet my dog on the couch. It's a perfect slow morning and indulgent treat.
Reconnect with a faraway friend.
Whether it's calling someone up on the phone or sitting down to write a note to send in the mail, it's such a good way to spread love and feel light in your own heart.
Arrange some flowers
One of my secret vices is flowers. Finding them, photographing them, arranging them, just being around them. I shared some simple DIY flower arranging tips here in the journal. I love being in nature, and when living in an urban area prevents a true submersion into the wilderness, having flowers around makes a good substitute.
Do some yoga
Shake things up in your body to unleash new ideas, unfurl emotions, and calm your senses. I don't love working out all the time, but I never regret the feeling I have afterwards.
Take a long bath
Grab a book, play some music, and just rest in the warm cradle of the tub. Maybe even add in some flowers and fruit slices for even more aroma, or use some bath salts that nourish the body. The skin is our body's largest organ. It absorbs everything you put on it, so to take the time to soak in good salts, botanicals and oils is an important act of self care + wellness.
About a year ago, I shared some other self care tips here that are more along the lines of self preservation. But whether you're treating yourself to a self care day to indulge, or to repair yourself, it's important. Take care of yourselves, lovelies. And don't forget that you are worthy of loving and indulging yourself.
