May Candle Club: you're blooming

May Candle Club: you're blooming

May! My favorite month, and the best in my opinion. I’m severely biased since May is my birthday month! I turned 33 last week, and celebrated my first Mother’s Day just before. It was spectacular, not that it was filled with a ton of instagrammable moments or anything, but it felt amazing in the milestones, in the simplicity of aging, in life constantly changing, and loving it.

May is also the best month of blooms, in my opinion at least. It was truly truly a blessing to have been born during peony season, and every year my mom gifts me fresh cut blooms from her garden. On my table right now are peonies, tulips, roses, and irises. And this month’s Candle Club members are getting a treat to bring the garden in.

This month find a geranium lavender candle (our bloom scent!) and a package of floral confetti! Floral confetti is my favorite, and my life is covered in it. I love using little dried flower petals to decorate corners of my home, float on top of candles, and fill in pretty jars. It’s a little moment of joy, and I’m happy to spread it around to our candle club subscribers this month.

May through the senses. Here’s what I’m:

Seeing: flowers and flower petals collecting on all the surfaces of my home.

Hearing: Growing Floret, a show on the Magnolia Network about the growth of a flower farm in Washington, State. I’m watching too, but I love how calming all the shows on this network are. They make for perfect background noise.

Tasting: fruity sour beers. There’s a brewery in our studio’s warehouse in Baltimore - Wico Street Beer Co and they have so many delicious sours on tap, my husband and I are always reevaluating which one is our favorite. We’ve been doing brewery Fridays after work, and it’s the best time of the week.

Smelling: geranium + lavender, bloomy and beautiful. A favorite scent in the shop and studio this month.

Touching: a little mohawk of fluffy baby curls that I’m trying to cultivate into spiral goodness. Bebe looks exactly like her papa, hoping she gets some curls from me though. ;)

Thanks to our candle club members for being with us! I love sending out fun little packages to each of you every month. It keeps me in the moment, in the season of life, and I’m so grateful for it. Life is moving ever faster these days, thanks for keeping me present.
